dc.description.abstract | With the help of three distinctly divided sediment sequences the Upper Pleistocene and Holocene ofthe Eibe-Saaleregion can be similarly completely subdivided into numerous climatic oscillations as ispossible with the method of the oxygen-isotope-stages of the deep sea sediments or of the ice drillingsin Greenlandandin the Antarctic. The travertine sequence of Burgtonna (Thuringia), the cyclic sequenceof the Aschersleben See (Iake of Aschersleben) (in the Nordharzvorland) and a late glacial sequencefrom the valley of the Geisel river were studied. These sequences show that all the phenomenons of theinorganic and organic world were dependent on the cyclic climatic development of the last 125 000years: Sedimentation, geomorphologic events, subrosion, vegetation (palynology and macro remains),molluscan, ostracod and vertebrate fauna. Additionally, the sequences and Palaeolithic are correlated.20 small cycles including the interglacials were found within the climatic main cycle of EemianWeichselian-Holocene. The main cycle is subdivided in the following way:I. Last interglacial with two late interglacial cool oscillations (stage 5.5). Beginning 130 000 B. P.End 110 000 B. P.2. Early glacial I. End about 65 000 B. P. Four cycles with four stadials and four interstadials/stages5.1 to 5.4).3. Early glacial 2. End about 22 000 B. P. Begins with the extremely cold fifth stadial (stage 4). Fourcycles (four stadials and four interstadials) (stage 3).4. Pleniglacial. End about 15 000 B. P. lt is a !arger stadial with at least three warmer phases (intervals)(belongs tostage 2).5. Late glacial. End 10 000 B. P. Four stadials with two intervals and two interstadials (belongs tostage 2).6. Holocene. Interglacial with a cold phase at its beginning (Youngest Dryas) (stage 1). | ger |
