Abstract: Important parts of the stratigraphical column of the Selke nappe corrolate with the facies and the biostratigraphical age (data of conodonts). These are equivalent to the transgression-regression-cycles described by JOHNSON et al. (1986). That concerns particulary the "Hauptkieselschiefer" (siliceous schist) wich came into being with the transgression at the turn of the IId/IIe cycle in the upper part of the middle triangularis zone as well at the beginning of sedimentation of the "Selke Grauwacke" (graywacke) which was connected with a striking regression within the lie cycle (rhomboidea zone). The "Selke-Grauwacke" has as a result although in a different geotectonical position, the sameglobal cause (regression) for its commencement, as the "Controz-Sandstein" in Belgium and ending in the same way through transgressive proceedings yet in the higher upper devonian.
