Abstract: This article delves into the challenges associated with accessing abortion services in Halle (Saale), Germany. Based on interviews with counselors, doctors, and women directly impacted, the study characterizes abortions as a significant component of reproductive geography. The author employs an assemblage framework, considering the interplay of individuals, material elements, and societal norms. The analysis identifies and delineates three focal points of tension inherent in the daily battle for abortion rights: the dichotomy of legality/illegality, the balance between openness and taboo, and the interplay of freedom and constraint.
