dc.description.abstract | Background Potentially traumatic events are varied and their chronification should be avoided. The aim of the work was to evaluate whether individuals who have experienced traumatic situations show different personality traits, i.e. different behavior and experience in situations. Material and methods In this study 96 bank employees (age 42.6 ± 9.56 years) were interviewed. Group classification based on the impact of event scale questionnaire (IES-R): potentially traumatic event experienced (group T) or not (group kT). The inventory of personality diagnosis in situations (IPS) was used to investigate whether self-assessment of personal behavior and experience has an influence on reactions after traumatic events. Results Of the respondents 28 (29.2%) subjectively reported a potentially traumatic event. The estimated prevalence of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) was 3.1%. Statistical differences between group T and group kT were only found in the performance behavior (life area satisfaction). The subjects who experienced a traumatic situation had more IPS profiles requiring an intervention. Both groups showed a relatively low recovery behavior. Conclusion The findings on the self-assessment of the situations of the bank employees showed the importance of prevention of mental illness as a result of traumatic events. Self-assessment of the experience when confronted with potentially traumatic situations can play a role in the development of PTSD. Interdisciplinary offers and cooperation appear to be very important and should be used within the prevention team. | eng |
